Yu Yu Hakusho, Yu-Gi-Oh! GX End in Shonen Jump USA
posted on by Egan Loo
Yoshihiro Togashi's Yu Yu Hakusho supernatural action manga and Naoyuki Kageyama's Yu-Gi-Oh! GX action manga have ended in the January issue of Viz Media's American version of Shonen Jump magazine, which ships this month. Yu Yu Hakusho is the last of the original five manga titles from the very first issue of Viz's Shonen Jump. (The other titles in the inaugural issue in January 2003 were Dragon Ball Z, Sand Land, Yu-Gi-Oh!, and One Piece.) Yu Yu Hakusho is the only manga besides Sand Land to complete its entire run in Viz's Shonen Jump magazine.
While Yu-Gi-Oh! GX is ending its serialization run in Viz's Shonen Jump, it will still continue in graphic novel form. Viz will ship the fourth English volume in January, while the Japanese publisher Shueisha only just shipped the sixth Japanese volume this month. The February issue will be the first issue in Shonen Jump USA's seven-year run to not have a Yu-Gi-Oh! manga.
In the same January issue of Shonen Jump, Viz has start a preview of Mitsutoshi Shimabukuro's Toriko cuisine action manga.
