StudioCanal to Release From Up on Poppy Hill (Updated)

A press release from StudioCanal lists the Studio Ghibli film From Up on Poppy Hill on its 2013 release slate. It also gives the name of the dub actors confirmed for the American release of the film, including Gillian Anderson, Jamie Lee Curtis, Beau Bridges, Christina Hendricks, Ron Howard, Chris Noth, Aubrey Plaza and Anton Yelchin.
However, there is no confirmed U.K. release date for the film. Asked whether there would be a UK cinema release, a StudioCanal rep said, "We do plan on giving the film a UK cinema release, but have no further details at present.'
premiered in theaters in Japan in July 2011.
North American distributor GKids show it in American cinemas this March.
Previously, StudioCanal's British arm was called Optimum, which distributed all the Studio Ghibli films in Britain up to and including Arrietty. In September 2011, Optimum changed its name to match its parent company.
