Plot Summary: It is the near future, where the world has been ravaged by a nuclear war and civilization is defined only by survival. Kenshiro is betrayed by Shin, who takes his girlfriend Yuria as his possession, and left for dead by his treacherous brother Jagi, while his elder brother Raoh kills their master Ryuken on his quest to conquer the lands. One year later, upon hearing the silent cries of Lin, Kenshiro reemerges from the shadows to exact his revenge on Jagi and Shin, and battle Raoh to claim his rightful title of Fist of the North Star.

Comment:
Alternate retelling of the TV series, with character and plot elements rearranged from the manga's first 75 chapters. Unlike the TV series, the film retains the manga's violence and gore.
An alternate ending was animated for the VHS release in Japan in 1988. Instead of Raoh preparing to kill an unconscious Kenshiro, the scene has both combatants still standing before Lin stops the fight. This scene, as well as some of the film's graphic death scenes, were not remastered for the 2008 Japan DVD release.
