Ghibli's Poppy Hill Earns US$55,000 on 2 NYC Theaters

Earns 2nd highest average; opens in Los Angeles, Toronto, Vancouver this Friday

The Box Office Mojo website reports that opened this weekend in two New York City theaters with an estimated US$55,000. Those box office reciepts gave the film a per-screen average of US$27,500, the second highest among all films in the United States this weekend (after Spring Breakers' US$90,000 average on three screens).

Los Angeles, Toronto, and Vancouver will host the film this Friday, followed by more theaters in Los Angeles, Chicago, San Francisco, Berkeley, Boston, Seattle, Minneapolis, and San Diego next Friday. It then opens in still more theaters in April and May:
