Miyazaki's The Wind Rises to Compete at Venice Int'l Film Fest

Space Pirate Captain Harlock to screen out of competition at August-September festival

The organizers of the 70th Venice International Film Festival announced on Thursday that Bernardo Bertolucci is judging the competition.

Screening in the "Orizzonti" category that displays new trends in world cinema is Hiroki Hasegawa.

Screening in the Venice Classics category that shows a selection of restored classic films are: Yasujirō Ozu's 1958 film Higanbana (Equinox Flower), Nagisa Ōshima's 1983 film Furyo (Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence), and Noboru Nakamura's 1964 film Yoru no Henrin (The Shape of the Night).
