"I didn't realize Grandma Rosa would become such a popular character when I first introduced her, but now I'm glad it turned out that way! I think quite a few people (especially those who started watching anime when they still lived with their parents) can relate to the situation of adults or non-anime fans always walking into the room at a particularly questionable or embarrassing moment. I was thinking of the old bishounen character designs, ultra-angst, and use of the word "catharsis," but I think that's all you need to know."
