The Japanesetelevision network TBS and producer Akihiko Ishimaru both denied last week's newspaper reports that claimed that a film version of the manga-based live-action Jin drama has been green-lit. The drama is inspired by Motoka Murakami's manga about a modern brain surgeon transported back in time to the Bakumatsu era, the period that spelled the end of the shoguns' rule over Japan. ⏎ On January 28, Nikkei Sports and other newspapers reported that a film version will begin shooting this summer for a theatrical release next year. However, TBS faxed an official comment to of the press, and said that a film adaptation has not been green-lit yet. TBS added that the newspaper reports were misinformed. ⏎ Ishimaru himself posted a note on the drama's official website, stating that there is no official news from the staff itself. However, he did acknowledge that the staff is exploring the possibility of future projects. ⏎publisher Kodansha has announced that a limited edition for the 24th volume of Tomoko Ninomiya's Nodame Cantabile manga will ship on April 26 with an original animation DVD and The Magic Flute CD. ⏎ The DVD will contain a special side story created by Ninomiya herself. The CD will include the music of Thedrama has been a hit in Japan, where it has regularly ranked at or near the top of the ratings charts since itsMagic Flute opera by Mozart, as it was featured in the Nodame Cantabile Encore Opera Edition manga. Nodame Cantabile Encore Opera Edition is the new side story manga series that Ninomiya launched in December, after she ended the main Nodame Cantabile manga story in Octoberpremiere.
