Sailor Moon has influenced my life since I was 7 years old. Growing up was challenging for me, I moved many times and suffered debilitating depression in my early teen years where instead of turning to destructive outlets, I turned to Sailor Moon. Her story helped me through my difficult times. I was obsessed with the series for at least a decade. I became interested in Japan and went overseas to teach for two years. I even cosplay from Sailor Moon. Now I want to become a costumer, all thanks to Sailor Moon. Sailor Moon really changed my entire life.
Sailor Moon has influenced my life since I was 7 years old. I discovered Sailor Moon in the 90s when I was in middle school. I would wake up at 5am in the morning to watch it, and even imported the manga (untranslated!) from Japan. I drew this playful magical girl spoof on my graphic novel series Peach Fuzz in 2003 as an homage to Sailor Moon and the huge influence it had on my art!

This picture isn't a masterpiece I know. I drew it 8 years ago when I was in the 5th grade. Sailor Moon means everything to me. It thought me to always be who I am and never let anyone bring me down. It's always been a heartwarming experience while watching it since I got through hard times in my life with the help of the beloved Magical Girls. I wish I could afford the goodies of Sailor Moon but Me and My family really can't. My aim is not to win but to maybe warm you're hearts as SM warmed mine.

I loved Sailor Moon as a kid and was pretty girl. But being bullied, I decided that the only way to be taken seriously was to act tough. People stopped picking on me but I felt less feminine.
It wasn't until I started watching it again in college and saw tough girl Sailor Jupiter kick butt and still be feminine that I could do that too. I loved that all of the scouts could save the day through feminine items like tiaras and make-up.
Now I can confidently wear dresses and assert myself like the empowered magical girl I am.

I begged my mom to import the wands, the lockets, notebooks, and clothes from Japan. My first costume at age eight was Sailor Neptune. Almost two decades later, Sailor Moon has never lost her charm. I still have all my original merchandise. I've slowly collected every possible English and Japanese release of the DVDs and manga. I've cosplayed Sailor Cosmos and Sailor Neptune. She would fight always for what was right, push through heartbreaking pain and go against impossible odds to protect what she loved. I watched her in awe. Watching Sailor Moon has given me the strength to keep smiling and to continue to walk out my door each day. Sailor Moon taught me to never give up and keep trying, even if the whole universe is against you. And I do.

Fifteen years later, I've gotten good enough at "girly" sewing to cosplay her and kick butt!

Sailor Moon is my childhood. We shared crushes and created bonds with friends that can never be severed. We pretended to be Sailor Scouts, acting out scenes in the field at school. So after being creatively inspired by Sailor Moon's message of femininity, courage and perseverance, we had entered our very first cosplay contest, and was rewarded a Judge's Choice Award! It was a very exciting moment for us, and it had felt good to share the moment with our favorite childhood icon. So, thank you Sailor Moon for helping us with pushing ourselves into becoming better cosplayers, and with confidence!
Being a part of the cosplay community, we've had to face many challenges regarding negativity as well as our own insecurities whenever we craft a costume. This is my elementary school picture. This was very out of character for myself, as I was consider the quiet girl in class.
Sailor Moon aired when my family was going through a tough divorce, it was my good escape from life. My mother also said letter in my life 'Without the show she didn't feel she could reach out to me, as well as she did with it.'
I'm glad my mother let me take my school pictures in a sailor suit. No other show has been so sweet to my childhood is Sailor Moon.

When I was in junior high I was picked on a lot and the only thing I looked forward to was Sailor Moon as soon as I got out of school. She showed me that love and justice can defeat all evils and that if you believe in something with all of your heart that you can achieve anything you want. Sailor Moon is my hero and without her and the sailor scouts I would not have grown up to have my own little mini moon.

It means everything to me. Sailor Moon is what started me in anime and my love of drawing. Without that singular show, I would have never become the huge fan i am now. It gave me the basics for drawing and brought me closer to friends and the children i took care of as well. It is my most favorite series and Naoko Takeuchi is my 1st fave artist.

Sailor Moon has been a steadfast love since the age of five when it started airing on Sailor Moon R, and I still own that to this day. It means a lot to me. I used to watch it with my mother. I have cosplayed as Sailor Moon, and it is my favourite cosplay that I have done. I also was Sailor Moon when I was 5 for Halloween. It was so nice to re-live.

He is definitely my Mamo-chan now and forever. <3

I even had a small Sailor Moon shrine in my room. Sailor Moon inspired me to be who I am and be awesome doing it! When I was young I made a Sailor Moon costume out of paper and now I am a full on cosplayer, Sailor Moon is my roots and my home.
