The Directors Guild of America has announced the nominees for its 2010 Outstanding Directorial Achievement in Feature Film Award, which include Christopher Nolan for the film Inception and Darren Aronofsky for the film Black Swan.
Some anime fans have professed anime fan.
Meredith Borders of the blogging site Badass Reviews and fans on the HighDef Digest forums have compared Black Swan to Kon's Perfect Blue. Black Swan follows a ballerina who becomes paranoid while striving towards perfection in the dual role of the White Swan and Black Swan in the ballet Swan Lake. Aronofsky himself acknowledged that there are similarities in a question-and-answer session with the Philadelphia Film Society, although he said that Black Swan "wasn't influenced by" Perfect Blue.
Other directors competing for the same award are David Fincher (The Social Network), Tom Hooper (The King's Speech), and David O. Russell (The Fighter).
