The new special is part of the 15th anniversary celebration of the television anime series and the related films. Fullmetal Alchemist: The Movie - Conqueror of Shamballa, Hana-Kimi) starred in the first live-action Detective Conan television special in 2006 as part of the anime's 10th anniversary. He reprised the role in a second special the following year.
