App removed after climbing to #2 on Apple's App Store chart last weekend

Apple has removed the counterfeit, non-running version of the selling the game on Friday for US$0.99, and the app rose to number two on the store's paid apps chart last weekend. The app, however, would only load the title screen before crashing on iOS devices.

The seller, listed as "Daniel Burford," had also offered counterfeit versions of Yu-Gi-Oh! on Friday. Apple has also removed both of those apps.

Pokémon Yellow first shipped in Japan in 1998, and then in North America a year later. It sold 600,000 copies in its first week of Nintendo's executive vice president of sales and marketing said that the game was "the best-selling game in America... for any handheld video game system" in 2000.
