CNN Newscasters Can't Handle Funasshi Mascot
posted on by Lynzee Loveridge
Major news network CNN recently did an interest piece on the regional mascot craze in Japan. Correspondent Will Ripley took to the streets of Japan to get a coveted interview with Funasshi, the unofficial but very successful pear-fairy mascot of Funabashi City. As one of the few mascots that talk, Ripley sought out the exuberant yellow Funasshi to ask it a few questions.
Back at CNN's station in Hong Kong, newscaster Kristie Lu Stout found Funasshi's antics too much to handle.
Funasshi is very popular despite its unofficial status. It was voted the top mascot in the Regional Mascot General Election in August, got its own manga Universal Music Japan.
You can follow Funasshi's exploits on debut this year.
