Pepper Robots' Turn as Love Live Idols Isn't Up to Snuff

The Pepper robot has proven its an adequate stand-in for its human counterpart in a number of career avenues, including manning a officiating weddings. Pepper's versatile programming is impressive, but it looks like its not up to par with complicated choreography Japanese idols have to learn to entertain fans.

Nine Pepper robots put on wigs and dresses to Akihabara UDX on Sunday. Unfortunately, things were off from the get go. Rin's counterpart spends much of the song facing stage left while Kotori simply checks out of the performance all together.

I guess idol fans can still count on live performers for the time being, at least until robots nail their routines down.
