One difference between the Japanese "Box Office Weekend" and the North American "Box Office Weekend" is that, in Japan, the weekend figures only count Saturday and Sunday, while the North American standard is to count sales from Friday, Saturday and Sunday. In North America, the Friday box office sales for approximately 33% of the weekend's sale, while Saturday s for 40% and Sunday for 26%.
