Live-action Slam Dunk movie in production

Taiwanese-Chinese co-production to be most expensive Taiwan-originated feature of all time

Chang Hong Television Group (Taiwan) and Shanghai Film and Television Group (China) will begin production work next week on a live-action adaptation of Slam Dunk manga.

The manga ran to for volumes and was the basis of a 101-episode anime series and four animated movies.

The live-action film will be shot in studios in Shanghai and on location in Taiwain. With a budget of US$10 million, it is slated for a Winter 2008 release. The cast will feature Kevin Chu Yin Ping ("Expect a Miracle").

Foreign distribution rights have already been sold for Hong Kong, Japan, Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia, and an international sales agent will be appointed in the next several months.
