Toei, NEC Offers Online Anime Service in Japan

On Tuesday, the Japanese Internet service provider Toei Animation. For 1,554 yen a month ($13), subscribers will get unlimited online access to about a thousand television anime episodes.
The subscription program is the result of a partnership between NEC, the company that runs BIGLOBE, and Toei Animation. The service, which is called the "Toei Anime BB Unlimited Viewing Plan," will make episodes from 15 Toei-produced anime available to subscribers each month. On the first of each month, two series will be removed and two new ones will be added. To commemorate the first month the site is in business, certain parts of the service will be available for free until the end of the month.
Many of Toei's most famous anime have been ed for subscribers in September. Some noteworthy titles include Captain Harlock.
Toei has been offering a similar service on 4th Media, a service provided by Plala Network's FLETS broadband video company, since September 1.
