Death Note Day at NYC Kinokuniya Books on September 14

To commemorate the U.S. release of cosplay. Café Zaiya will be giving out Japanese sweets, and visitors will be able to enter a drawing for prizes from Viz Pictures and NYAF. The event runs from 2:00 to 5:00 p.m. In the story, a teenaged vigilante can put people to death by writing their names in a supernatural notebook.
