Japanese Box Office, October 18-19: Ponyo Rises to #8

Gekijōban Saraba Hayao Miyazaki's first feature film in nearly four years, actually rose from #9 to #8 in its 14th weekend. After October 13, it has earned 14.9 billion yen ($149 million).

Tomoyuki Takimoto's live-action 20th Century Boys manga fell from #7 off the chart in its eighth weekend. The Variety entertainment trade news source estimates this film has earned 4 to 4.5 billion yen (US$40-45 million).
