India Reportedly Bans Crayon Shin-chan from TV

India's Ministry of Information and Broadcasting has reportedly banned the Crayon Shin-chan animated comedy series due to complaints that the show causes "negative impacts on kids," in the words of one mother. "The character does things which are prohibitory in India," the mother continued. Shin-chan follows a five-year-old who goes out of his way to annoy his parents. Before the ban, the Hindu version of Shin-chan was said to have garnered a 50- to 60-percent marketshare and was the most watched program on its television channel, Hungama.
The National Confederation of Parent-Teacher Associations for Japan Ikki Tousen anime series on the grounds it was "glorifying cruelty" and held some "elements of child pornography."
