Frederik L. Schodt Wins The Order of the Rising Sun Award

Japanese government awards Gold Rays with Rosette to manga translator
Prolific manga translator and scholar Mighty Atom, and the Manga/Anime Revolution.
Schodt's other books include the seminal text Manga! Manga! The World of Japanese Comics, his Dreamland Japan: Writings on Modern Manga follow-up, and Inside the Robot Kingdom: Japan, Mechatronics, and the Coming Robotopia. Besides Tezuka's manga, Schodt also translated or co-translated Pluto.
Previous recipients of the same award have included the Los Angeles Dodgers baseball team manager Tommy Lasorda and Star Trek actor George Takei.
