The official website of the anime studio K-ON!) has opened a section for its Kyoto Animation Award. Applicants can compete in the novel, manga, and scenario categories, which will be judged by Kyoto Animation's staff. In each category, there are plans for a grand prize of 300,000 yen ($3,400) and a honorable mention prize of 100,000 yen (US$1,100). The popular winning entries will have a chance at being animated by Kyoto Animation. There are no restrictions on genre, age, or professional/amateur status.
The deadline for entries is January 15, and the winners will be announced next spring.
