Zipang Ends as Kaiji Kawaguchi Plans Next Manga in 2010

Creator began naval alternate-history story in 2000; newest work slated for spring

sent back in time to World War II.

Kawaguchi began his longest manga series in 2000, and it has since sold 15 million copies. It won the 26th Kodansha Manga Award in the General Manga category in 2002, and it was accident. Kawaguchi is already planning to launch his newest work next spring.

Before Zipang, Kawaguchi drew the Eisner Award-anime.
