To Love-Ru's Yabuki Confirmed for Mayoi Neko Overrun (Updated)

The website for the Circle K and Sunkus convenience stores in Japan has confirmed, via an unreleased image for a promotional campaign, that Mayoi Neko Overrun! (Stray Cats Overrun!) romantic comedy light novels.

revealed that a manga adaptation of Mayoi Neko Overrun! had been green-lit for Shueisha's Jump Square magazine. However, the leaked web image is the first official, albeit third-party, confirmation of Yabuki's involvement in the Mayoi Neko Overrun! project.

The light novels' story revolves around Takumi Tsuzuki, a boy who lives with his older "sister" Otome, although the two have no blood ties between them. Otome manages a run-down confectionary store called Stray Cats. One day, Otome picks up a mysterious beautiful girl off the streets.

Seven light novels volumes have been written since 2008, and a television anime adaptation was Peco, the illustrator best known for the Sono Hanabira ni Kuchizuke o adult game series, created the light novels' original illustrations from which Yabuki is basing the manga's character designs.

Update: Yabuki will also publish a one-shot manga story called "Futagami Double" in next year's combined 5th/6th issue of Shueisha's Weekly Shonen Jump magazine on January 4. That same day, a To Love-Ru art collection called Love Color will ship in Japan.
