Saibara wrote the original essay to tell her daughter about her life thus far, and the resulting book has sold 200,000 copies. In the book, Saibara describes how she grew up in a poor family and faced up to school bullying to become a successful manga creator.
Saibara's adapted another manga by Saibara, Permanent Nobara, and the resulting film premiered on Saturday.
