Japanese Box Office, July 30-31

2 Naruto opens at #6

The anime films were pushed down the chart by two new American entries, but the two Gekijōban Pocket Monster Best Wishes! Victini to Shiroki Eiyū Reshiram films dropped from #2 to #4 in their third weekend. They collectively earned the equivalent of US$3,094,297 on 351 screens for a grand total of US$25,290,767.

shōjo coming-of-age manga, also fell from #3 to #5 in its third weekend. It earned US$2,960,442 on 457 screens for a new total of US$21,495,806. Once again, if this year's two Pokémon films were counted separately, Kokuriko-Zaka Kara would have ranked above both of them.

Nintama Rantaro manga and anime fell from #4 to #8 in its second weekend. It earned US$883,104 more on 218 screens for a new total of US$3,436,468.

Fullmetal Alchemist manga, dropped from #9 to #10 in its fifth weekend. It earned US$249,547 on 90 screens for a total-to-date of US$6,585,472.

Soreike! Anpanman: Sukue! Kokorin to Kiseki no Hoshi (right) continued to stay at #11 in its fifth weekend. It took in US$213,633 on 129 screens for a gross-to-date of US$3,082,017.

The #1 film this weekend is a new entry, John Lasseter.
