Kawahara discussed how he came up with the concept for Sword Art Online, his favorite characters, how the anime inspired him, what he would do if he was stuck in Sword Art Online, and what he wants to see in Seattle. Kawahara also gave a message to his American fans. posted the first interview on Friday.

Kawahara's Sakura-Con appearance will mark his first trip to North America.
