Gurren Lagann Gets Stage Play in Tokyo in October

posted on by Jennifer Sherman
Open auditions to be held for "Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann -Engeki-hen-"

Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann anime series will receive a stage play adaptation. "Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann -Engeki-hen-" will be held in Tokyo's Zenrōsai Hall Space Zero theater from October 22 to 26.

The Gurren Lagann -Engeki-hen- IZAM is scripting and producing the play. Like other Gurren Lagann titles, "engeki" has a literal meaning for its kanji characters — "flame attack" — and a possible wordplay in its pronunciation — "theatrical play."

The production is holding open auditions and accepting applications until May 16. Regardless of acting experience, men between 18 and 35 years old and women between 18 and 30 years old may apply.

The project launched official Facebook and Twitter s on Saturday.

The Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann television anime premiered in Japan in 2007. The Aniplex USA released the Japanese Blu-ray Disc box set that includes the series and both films in North America last year.

The series has also inspired two adaptations and spinoffs.
