MIFF Releases Details for Patema Inverted Screening with Yasuhiro Yoshiura

As part of the Melbourne International Film Festival, Japanese director Patema Inverted screenings from the 13th to the 16th of August;

Yasuhiro Yoshiura will be in attendance for a 20 minute Q & A session after the film and now MIFF and Hanabee have released details of the screenings and Q & A sessions. While all sessions are open to the public, the first two sessions on Wednesday and Friday are also designated as school screenings and school bookings can be made through ATOM at (03) 9525 5302 or by emailing online [at] atom.org.au. General public can book tickets for all three screenings and view further information here.

  • Wednesday 13th August at 11:00am - ACMI: Cinema 2, Federation Square/Flinders St, Melbourne, VIC.
  • Friday 15th August at 11:00am - ACMI: Cinema 2, Federation Square/Flinders St, Melbourne, VIC.
  • Saturday 16th August at 1:30pm - Hoyts Melbourne Central: Cinema 11, Melbourne Central Shopping Centre, Level 3/Swanston St, Melbourne VIC.

Patema Inverted

Spending her entire life living in a endless underground world of tunnels and shafts, Patema enjoys exploring the untold depths of her world, everywhere but the forbidden "danger zone". However Patema's curiosity gets the better of her and despite her caretaker's best wishes she ventures forth into the zone and finds a young boy, Eiji, standing on the ceiling. It turns out that Eiji is from another world and together they will discover a secret that will turn their respective worlds upside down.

Originally a four-part 7-minute licensed Patema Inverted for North America.

Yasuhiro Yoshiura graduated from the Kyushu University of Design in 2003, moved to Tokyo and wrote and directed Ultra Super Pictures.
