Attack on Titan, Sunny, Showa: A History of Showa Japan Get Harvey Nods

The Harvey Awards, which honors outstanding work in comics and sequential art, revealed its list of nominations for this year's awards on Wednesday. Fantagraphics Books.
Also nominated is Cyborg 009 manga. Bennett's Cyborg 009 is nominated for Best Original Graphic Novel, Best Letterer, and Special Award for Excellence in Presentation.
Attack on Titan has Kodansha USA is currently releasing the manga in North America.
Matsumoto's Sunny manga Viz Media released the third and final volume in April.
Matsumoto's slice-of-life story focuses on children at Star Kids Home orphanage. An abandoned yellow car, Sunny, takes them anywhere they want to go. With Sunny, the children can escape their circumstances and go on imaginary adventures around the world and beyond.
Mizuki's Showa: A History of Showa Japan covers the first 14 years of Japan's Showa era (1926-1939). Kodansha published it in eight compiled volumes in 1994. The book is also nominated for Columbia University's Japan-U.S. Friendship Commission Translation Prize.
Mizuki won the Asahi Prize in 2009 for his contributions to culture and society. His Onward Towards Our Noble Deaths manga was nominated for a Harvey Award in 2012.
Unlike the Eisner Awards and other awards in the North American comic book industry, the Harvey Awards are nominated and selected by the comic book professionals themselves. The Harvey Awards will be held in conjunction with Baltimore Comic-Con in Baltimore, Maryland on September 6.
