Live-Action Blue Spring Ride Film Opens at #1 in Box Office

The movie data firm Kōgyō Tsūshin reported on Monday that the live-action Blue Spring Ride (Ao Haru Ride) romance manga opened this past weekend at #1 in the Japanese box office. The film sold 210,000 tickets for 307 screens and earned about 241 million yen (US$2.05 million).
The story revolves around Futaba Yoshioka (played by Masahiro Higashide) in middle school. However, after a misunderstanding, their relationship as friends ends when he transfers schools over summer vacation. In high school, her world is turned around once again when she meets Kō again, this time under the name of Kō Mabuchi.
The cast for the film also includes Yua Shinkawa as Kanojo wa Uso o Ai Shisugiteru).
The Pia. The film sold 157,000 tickets for 151 screens and earned about 171 million yen (US$1.45 million).
Bandai's orginal idol-themed card game inspired three anime series prior to the film. The story of the anime revolves around Ichigo, who was just a normal middle school student until she suddenly got involved in the world of idols. The film will center around Aikatsu!'s greatest "Super Live" concert yet, the Dai Star Miya Ichigo Matsuri. Ichigo prepares for the concert with press conferences, last-minute lessons, and more.
The film also opened this weekend at #4. The film sold 167,000 tickets for 295 screens and earned about 202 million yen (US$1.72 million).
