AFA Singapore Hosts Charlotte Director, Actress, Singer

Anime Festival Asia Lia at its Singapore event. All three will appear on the AFA Day Stage on November 29.

Charlotte, rumoured to have been based on Maeda's own early life, is set in an alternate world where a few children come into unusual superpowers upon puberty. One of the colouful characters is Jōjirō Takajyō, who can move so fast he appears to be teleporting. There's also student singer Yusa Nishimori, who can communicate with the dead. The children are enrolled into Houshinomi Academy, which has its own student council for guiding those who encounter problems with their newfound abilities.

The protagonist, Yū Otosaka, an ill-mannered first-year transfer who uses his ability to possess another person's body for five seconds in order to cheat in his exams. When Yū meets school council president Nao Tomori, the fate of these extraordinary children begins to unravel. Will the youthful duo be strong enough to fight their destiny?

Yoshiyuki Asai made his series directorial debut with Charlotte. He has previously directed and storyboarded episodes of such anime as A Lull in the Sea.

Maaya Uchida voiced the roles of Misa Nishimori and Yusa Nishimori in Charlotte, and has voiced roles in such anime as The IDOLM@STER Cinderella Girls.

Both Uchida and Lia are already appearing as musical guests in the convention's "I Love Anisong Reboot" concert.

The event's second day on November 28 is labeled as a P's LIVE concert, which is Japanese music label Pony Canyon's name for its concerts with Pony Canyon-associated voice actors, actresses, and artists. Ayana Taketatsu, Maaya Uchida, Suzuko Mimori, Michi, Shiori Mikami, Yumiri Hanamori, and Yurika Endō are all d with Pony Canyon and have previously performed at P's LIVE concerts in Japan. This will be the first time that Pony Canyon will hold a P's LIVE concert outside of Japan. Pony Canyon held the last P's LIVE concert on March 8 in the Yokohama Arena.

Anime Festival Asia Singapore will hold its event from November 27 to 29. Anime Festival Asia began in Singapore in 2008, and has since held sister events in Indonesia and in Thailand.

The Anime Festival Asia convention held its Bangkok, Thailand event from April 30 to May 3, and held its event in Indonesia from September 25 to 27.
