'Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? Sword Oratoria' Spinoff Novels Get TV Anime

Spinoff series centers on sword princess Aiz Wallenstein

Suzuhito Yasuda is credited with the original character designs for the novel series. GA Bunko lists the story:

Sword princess Aiz Wallenstein. Today, once again, the strongest female swordsman heads to the giant labyrinth known as the "Dungeon" along with her allies. On the 50th floor where mysteries and threats such as a decayed dragon's corpse that crumbles to ash and an irregularity that creeps ever closer to the party loom, Aiz calls for the wind and heads deeper into the darkness of the Dungeon. Eventually, she finds herself meeting a boy for the first time. "Um, are you OK?" In the Labyrinth City of Orario, the contrasting stories of the boy and the girl intersect!

licensed the spinoff series and plans to start releasing it this year.

The spinoff light novels have also inspired an ongoing manga adaption by Gangan Online.

Yen Press began publishing Ōmori's original Is It Wrong to Try to Pick Up Girls in a Dungeon? light novel series in North America in 2014, and it describes the story:

In Orario, fearless adventurers band together in search of fame and fortune within the monstrous underground labyrinth known as Dungeon.

But while riches and renown are incentive enough for most, Bell Cranel, would-be hero extraordinaire, has bigger plans.

He wants to pick up girls.

Is it wrong to face the perils of Dungeon alone, in a single-member guild blessed by a failed goddess? Maybe. Is it wrong to dream of playing hero to hapless maidens in Dungeon? Maybe not. After one misguided adventure, Bell quickly discovers that anything can happen in the labyrinth–even chance encounters with beautiful women. The only problem? He's the one who winds up the damsel in distress!!

The original light novel series debuted in Japan in 2013, and it has sold over 4 million copies. Yen Press has also licensed the manga adaptation of Ōmori's original light novel series.
