Lawsuit Filed Against Pokémon Go Developers

Plaintiff claims game entices tresing on private property

New Jersey resident Jeffrey Marder filed a class action lawsuit against Pokémon Go entices players to tres by placing Pokéstops and gyms on private property without the owners' permission. The lawsuit seeks compensation and a change in the game's practices.

The lawsuit states that, since the game's launch, Marder has seen strangers loitering around his house with their phones, and that "at least five individuals" have knocked on his door to request access to his yard in order to catch Pokémon.

The lawsuit also cites other cases similar to Marder's, as well as the several sites that have requested their locations be removed from the game.

Niantic's game update last weekend added safety warnings and advisories against tresing.
