Koumoto said he is honored to be part of a history-making story beloved by many generations. Taneda also said that it is a great privilege to be linked to the important role of 003, since she has watched previous Cyborg 009 anime countless times. The cast for the new anime is different from previous incarnations of Cyborg 009, Cyborg 009 Vs. Devilman project.

The site for the new anime has been streaming a teaser trailer, which reveals the anime's staff, and shows the anime's 3D CG animation.

The new project's story depicts Joe Shimamura and the other cyborgs' struggle with the Bresudo, a group of people who possess superhuman powers and intellect, and have manipulated human history since ancient times. Their goals are unknown, and they cast a dark shadow over the world.

Though few people believe in the Bresudo's existence, one journalist named Lucy Davenport heads to Texas to a certain family, and she meets the cyborgs. The cyborgs themselves have been freed from their duty of protecting humanity ever since the establishment of the UN Guardian troops, and they now live quiet lives of peace. However, Lucy's visit and the return of the Bresudo draw Joe and the others once more unto the breach of a new battle.

The site also revealed a visual for the films, which shows the character designs for the cyborgs. Both the teaser and the visual have the tagline, "When a crisis threatens the world, they're always there."

The anime celebrates the manga's 50th anniversary. The anime will consist of three parts, and all three will receive limited two-week theatrical runs in Japan starting on November 25, December 2, and December 9, respectively.
