Series of shorts to debut next summer

Hulu Japan to produce a series of shorts tentatively titled "Dam Keeper no Nakama-tachi" (The Dam Keeper's Friends). The 10-episode series of five-minute shorts is slated to debut on Hulu Japan next summer.

Tsutsumi (nephew-in-law) and Kondo, both former Pixar art directors, founded Tonko House in 2014. They debuted the original 18-minute "The Dam Keeper" film the same year, and have been working on a feature film version of the story since founding Tonko House. Tsutsumi and Kondo will be executive producers on the series of shorts.

Former Pixar animator Erick Oh will direct the series at Tonko House's headquarters in Berkeley, California. Oh previously supervised animation for the original short film, and left Pixar to Tonko House in September.

The new series of shorts will follow Pig and Fox, the same characters from "The Dam Keeper."

In addition to creating "The Dam Keeper," Tonko House has worked with Japanese anime studios debuted on March 5 at the Cinequest Film Festival in California.
