Suzuki originally launched a Hokusai to Meshi manga in Kodansha published the manga's third volume on April 20, and will publish the fourth volume on December 20.
Hokusai to Meshi Saeareba takes place eight years before Hokusai to Meshi. In the newer series, Bun Yamada moves to Tokyo to go to college, and she brings along her beloved plush toy named Hokusai. Bun has lots of ideas for new recipes, and believes that even if she experiences hardship, as long as she has Hokusai and delicious food, that every day is a happy one. The first volume features recipes for dishes such as "empty can rice," "metamorphosis sandwich," "thermos sweet sake," "meatball spaghetti," "sacred parfait," and "beef sinew curry."
Suzuki's inspired an anime promotional video earlier this year.
