Haikyu!! Gets New Stage Play Featuring Karasuno vs. Aobajōsai in Spring

posted on by Rafael Antonio Pineda
Cast from previous stage play reprise roles

This year's 52nd issue of Haikyu!! volleyball manga will get a new stage play adaptation in spring next year. The new play, titled Hyper-Projection Engeki Haikyu!! "Shōsha to Haisha" (Hyper-Projection Stage Play Haikyu!! "Winners and Losers"), will first run in Tokyo on March 24-26, before running in Miyagi from March 31-April 2, in Osaka from April 13-16, in Fukuoka from April 21-23, and then back to Tokyo again from April 28-May 7.

The cast from the previous stage play will all reprise their roles.

The story will feature the match between Karasuno and Aobajōsai. Like the last two stage plays, this new play is billed as a "hyper-projection play," with video projections that allow for manga-styled speech bubbles, as well as views of the stage floor, and a revolving stage.

"Worry Kinoshita" is directing the stage play, and Norihito Nakayashiki and Kinoshita are writing the script. Both return from the previous two Haikyu!! stage play adaptations.

The currently running stage play (seen right), titled Hyper-Projection Engeki Haikyu!! "Karasuno, Fukkatsu!" (Hyper-Projection Stage Play Haikyu!! "Karasuno Returns!"), began its run at the AiiA 2.5 Theater Tokyo on November 12. The play ran in Iwaki, Fukuoka, and is currently running in Osaka before it will end its run in Tokyo on December 4. The first stage play ran in Tokyo, Osaka, and Miyagi in November-December 2015.
