Snowpipe released the Sakura Taisen: Sakura no Uta smartphone role-playing game for iOS and Android devices in South Korea on Thursday. Inspired by Sega's Sakura Taisen (Sakura Wars) franchise, the game is an upgraded version of the Sakura Taisen: Densetsu no Hajimari game that Snowpipe released in 2017. (Note: Game titles are Japanese translations of the Korean titles.)
In the new game, the franchise's main characters such as Ichirō Ōgami, Sakura Shingūji, and Maria Tachibana return. The game features story, player-versus-player, and raid modes.
Sega also planning a simultaneous release of the game in Japan and Asia.
Original creator Oji Hiroi and Sega launched the first game in the franchise for the Sega Saturn in 1996, and the latest game in the series, Sakura Taisen V: Saraba Nintendo Wii.
The multimedia franchise also includes a television anime series, six video anime projects, an anime film, and manga.
