Detective Conan Gets New Police Academy Spinoff Manga Centering on Tōru Amuro

posted on by Alex Mateo
Takahiro Arai's manga debuts on October 2

This year's 43rd issue of Detective Conan manga in the magazine's next issue on October 2. The story will center on Tōru Amuro and show the six months he spent at the Police Academy. The first three chapters will cover the Matsuda arc (Jinpei Matsuda is a character in the Police Academy). Detective Conan manga creator Aoyama is drawing the cover.

In the same issue, the Detective Conan: Zero's Tea Time) spinoff manga series developed a story leading up to the new manga.

Below is a teaser illustration of five men, including Tōru Amuro and Wataru Date, that Aoyama drew. The magazine will sell the teaser illustration to readers.

Arai had revealed in August 2018 that he was preparing a new "Police Academy" arc for Meitantei Conan: Zero no Tea Time.

Arai began serializing chapters only when the main Detective Conan manga took hiatuses (Aoyama frequently puts the manga on hiatus for research). Shogakukan published the third compiled book volume of the manga on April 10.

The main Detective Conan manga is currently on hiatus. The series entered a hiatus on September 11, and will return on November 27.
