The Boy and the Heron Film Ends Run in India with ₹3.05 Crores in Revenue

Film opened in Indian theaters on May 10, earned ₹2.59 crores in 1st 2 weeks

IGN India reported on Friday that The Boy and the Heron has ended its run in Indian theaters with a revenue of ₹3.05 crores (approximately US$365,185).

The film earned ₹1.85 crores (US$222,500) in its first week in the country and ₹72 lakhs (US$86,600) in its second week, earning a cumulative ₹2.59 crores (US$311,700) in its first two weeks.

The film dub as well as in IMAX format.

The Boy and the Heron opened in Japan in July 2023, and sold 1.003 million tickets and third highest-grossing domestic film in Japan in 2023. The film has earned 9.34 billion yen ($59.7 million) in Japan.

The film is the first Studio Ghibli film to get a simultaneous IMAX release. The film also screened in Dolby Atmos, Dolby Cinema, and DTS:X.

The film won Best Animated Feature Film in the 96th Academy Awards ceremony on March 10.

The film also awarded the film with the Noburou Oofuji Award, which honors animated works that offer new forms of creative expression.

Miyazaki is credited with the original work, in addition to directing the film and writing the script. performs the theme song "Chikyūgi" (Globe).
