Japanese Idol Group AKB48 to Perform at MIPCOM

Paris, 28th July 2009 – Japanese girls group and idol phenomenon AKB48 will be performing at the 25th MIPCOM Opening Cocktail Party at Majestic Hotel on Monday 5 October, in the presence of most prominent variety show producer in Japan and inventor of the format, Yasushi Akimoto. MIPCOM, the world's entertainment content market, will take place in Cannes from 5 to 9 October.

There will also be a spotlight on Japanese fiction during the Fresh TV session by the WIT (information and research agency on international TV markets and programmes) on Tuesday 6 October. Japan, country of honor at MIPTV 2008, will be present in force as usual with all major exhibitors such as Toei Animation and a Japanese Pavilion.
