Arakawa Under the Bridge Manga Gets Anime Green-Lit (Update 2)

Quirky romantic gag comedy from creator of Saint Young Men

The official pamphlet of Tokyo's Arakawa Under the Bridge romantic denpa-kei gag comedy manga has been green-lit. An upper-class young man named Kō "Riku" Ichinomiya meets a beautiful homeless girl named Nino from the banks of Arakawa River, where many of Tokyo's most unusual residents live. The denpa-kei sub-genre of stories revolves around quirky people's lives; the sub-genre is named after the premise that bizarre behaviors are caused by electromagnetic waves (denpa).

The manga has been running in Young Gangan since 2004, and eight compiled book volumes have been published. The first manga chapter is available online.

In addition to Arakawa Under the Bridge, Nakamura is also currently serializing her Working!! manga is also being animated.
