Naotsugu Matsueda's Dashi Master manga have been put on hold due to similarities between the artists' illustrations and photographs ed online. The manga appears in the second volume of Grand Jump, released on December 7, but Matsueda's story will not appear in the magazine in its December 21 issue.

Japanese bloggers have suggested that Matsueda traced numerous images of food, ingredients, and background images from various Japanese websites for illustrations that appear throughout the manga's six compiled books.

The Dashi Master culinary manga first serialized in Shueisha's Super Jump magazines in November. The publisher released the manga's sixth compiled book in Japan on September 16.
