Toshiba to Continue Sponsoring Sazae-san Anime Despite Financial Issues

Company seeks to avoid blow to corporate image
Japanese news website Sankei News learned on Wednesday that Japan's Sazae-san for at least half a year after this April. Toshiba is undergoing restructuring and is having financial difficulties following a significant loss in the American nuclear energy market, but the company is continuing the sponsorship in order to avoid worsening its corporate image.
The anime adaptation of Machiko Hasegawa's Sazae-san manga began airing in October 1969, and Toshiba has been sponsoring the series with commercials for more than 40 years. Toshiba continued its sponsorship after its improper ing scandal in 2015.
Sazae-san constantly awarded the Guinness World Record for longest-running animated television series.
